Having released her debut EP Same Stuff last year, Bristol-based artist Emily Magpie has now released her latest single The Witching Hour. Soaring with the rich passion of Magpie’s smooth, distinctive vocals alongside glitchy, pulsating beats, the single is an eerily majestic creation. It flows effortlessly with twinkling ukulele melodies juxtaposed against a soaring electronic soundscape, creating a dreamy, ambient insight into what Magpie is capable of. Speaking about the single, THØSS says: ‘Two Laces is a love song. Nothing is more exposing than happiness, which is why it’s so hard to write happy songs well. Amelia Payne is back with her empowering new single ‘The Battle’. Produced by Toby Scott (Little Mix, Gorgon City, Pet Shop Boys, Girls Aloud) who also co-wrote the track with Amelia, ‘The Battle’ delivers a compelling message of standing up for yourself in any given situation that may try to bring you down. The infectious track leads with Amelia’s resounding vocal, presiding over an uplifting chorus and a punchy bass-drop production. Amelia says: “The track can be interpreted in different ways. It can be relevant to a relationship or something someone may be going through in life in general. The track’s main message is saying that you’re not going to be taken for granted and you're "ready for the battle, for the war” to stand up for yourself with whatever the situation brings at you. I would say it's meant to empower whoever listens to it to help them get through it.” Hailing from Barbados, 19-year-old Payne spent 8 years living in Miami with her family before returning to her birthplace. From early days it was obvious singing was Amelia’s passion; she sung all the time and even got in trouble for singing out loud in class. Since her debut release ‘Down’, Amelia has garnered support from top tastemaker sites including The Line Of Best Fit, Popjustice, Going Solo, Wonderland Very Introspective, Spindle Magazine and acrossHype Machine. Now residing in London full-time, Amelia is determined to make her mark in the UK and beyond bringing her raw, prodigious gift with her. Le Grind are back with an aspirational dance anthem that picks you up off the floor and pushes you back into the ring. “Nothing comes from nothing”, so you'd better go work for it! Bricks is the follow up to the critically acclaimed Pillow Talk, a song the Guardian called the "most infectious dance track ever" and which received radio support from BBC6 Music, Kiss FM and Gaydio. Inspired by the sounds of the underground Ballroom scene in late 1980's NYC and films such as Paris Is Burning and more recently KIKI, Bricks is decorated in horn stabs, Chicago house pianos and 808 claps. Each lyric is delivered with a sassy snap, urging the apathetic Millennial to get off their butt and go work for it, “if you don't break a sweat you've not earned it”. Reyna Lauren's commanding vocal throws you up against the wall like Chaka Khan and Gwen Guthrie have just tag teamed your ass, whilst a pounding electronic kick drum nails the track firmly to any dance floor or runway. Le Grind are Reyna Lauren (vocals), Gareth (songwriting / instrumentation / production) and Boo (drums / production). Formed on the sticky dance floor of a nightclub in Queens, NY. London based friends Gareth and Boo met native New Yorker Reyna Lauren whilst collectively singing along to a Prince track. Quickly becoming friends the trio recorded their debut underground club track I Was There (Where Were You?). The track received glowing press from the likes of MTV and Popjustice.

It’s not just a female voice, but something that represents an electronic world that follows the trip-hop wave creates by such a great artist from 90’s until 2000. A mix of synthesizer and samplers that contains elements of dub and house, as well as other electronic dance music elements. All this is connected with visual language created by herself made of shapes, forms, colors, and lines to create an abstract world of water-ly dreams and love's spots. A catchy mood by a modern artist. “Why You Loose?” is her debut single produced between Barcelona/Rome/London.

In 2016, Jylda released several singles on her own label Æolis Records. Renè was born to Creole Mauritian parents and is now currently based in London. Growing up in a family full of singers and musicians is what birthed and nurtured her passion for music, and being immersed in multi-cultural London has continued to broaden her musical taste. ‘Underwater’ was a raw and nostalgic debut that saw the likes of Saint Heron, BBC Radio 1xtra and Record Of The Day hailing her as an exciting and bold talent to watch and peaking interest from the music industry. Staying true to her diverse appeal in musical taste, follow up single, ‘Voices’ was an infectious and bold track tinged with electronic influences. With a steady and impressive number of blog features and online buzz, the track is now sitting on a notable 250 thousand views on YouTube and opened the way for a number of meetings and interest from the world of fashion and music. Experimental R&B track ‘I.N.T.O.’ followed which was premiered via V magazine and featured an in-depth interview with RENÉ that also saw her as the first unsigned, British artist to gain this type of feature on the influential fashion magazine. Hunger Magazine also premiered the dark, sultry visual for the track and yet again proved the appeal for the singer’s aesthetic and musical direction. Continuing with her organic approach, RENÉ will be releasing a string of new tracks and visuals whilst an EP is set for release later this year and live shows currently in talks.
After escaping war-torn and blood strewn Burundi as a war victim, Mudibu hooked up with seasoned guitarist and prolific songwriter Spencer to create something epic, exciting and captivating. The two London-based musicians form the core of Saints Patience and place melody and groove front and centre in a thrilling audio format that mixes the classic and the contemporary by following the lead of such timeless artists as Queen, Otis Redding, Led Zeppelin and The Wailers. Their songs, enhanced live by artisanal musicians taking on rhythm section duties, are cohesive amalgamations of Spencer’s prolific guitar jams and improv sessions in his home studio, which Mudibu, formerly of Mantilla, Lostchild and The Jezebel Sextet, enhances via his rich and powerful voice. This intuitive pair – “You know it’s good when you just look at each other and smile” – have now collected the best of their writings into their debut album ‘Weather The Storm’, recorded using valve amps and minimal gear at Spencer’s studio and thus exuding a fresh and dynamic analogue vibe. ‘Taste Of You’, a certified funk-rock fusion treat, ‘Taste Of You’ is a candid declaration of love and lust which, according to Saints Patience frontman Mudibu, is “about opening up to someone and letting them know your secrets and desires; asking them to let go and trust their instinct”. This he expresses in a vocal both hugely soulful and raw – “Heaven knows, forever you’ll be close to me” – while a wonderfully rotund bassline, shuddering synths and wah-wah guitar coalesce into one distinctly disco-flavoured belter. ‘Taste Of You’ is essentially a sexy, catchy pop song with a chorus hook that’s primed for the airwaves.
Ferocious four-piece The Nyx are about to explode into 2017. These empowering women are making music with a purpose and they’re doing it with huge servings of attitude, emotion and raw authenticity. Simone explains “Hideaway is about the struggle of the push and pull of an over thinking mind. What's real and what’s not”. The next two tracks on the EP, Fire Breathing Lady and Myself, were written in the early years of the band’s formation. The first of which, an angsty track delivering a strong yet fun message, shows a grittier side to the band. Its brimming with quirky guitar licks and front woman Becky Wixon’s fierce vocal delivery is paired with almost glam rock style harmonies from the rest of band. The band originally formed in High Wycombe, which included Becky and Simone (vocals and guitar) and Ruby Rose Lee (bass). Having already received praise from the likes of Q Magazine, Absolute Radio and having previously supported well established acts such as The Subways, the girls decided they wanted to move in a different direction and thus The Nyx was born. Adding Collette Williams on drums, the grunge-rock outfit was complete and these fiery females are now ready to redefine what it means to be a girl in a band. This release amplifies the energy of this flaring female-piece who have something to say and stand for.
